Why this stage now
Tyāgarāja's first instruction was always to fix the Sa and let it become you. There is no point learning a kṛti before your ear can sit on a single tone without drifting.
You're ready for the next stage when
You can hold a single Sa for 10 seconds within ±15 cents on the tuner, with your eyes closed, while the drone plays.
The protocol
- 01Open the tuner. Sing one note in your relaxed mid-range. Watch the cents needle.
- 02Save that frequency as your Sa via /onboarding.
- 03Open any composer page. Set tāmpura on. Listen for 10 minutes daily without singing.
- 04On day 7, sing only one held Sa — for 10 seconds at a time. Check the tuner.
